What if the news
was as accurate as weather?
What if we talked about things
like we're in them together?
Followers, trends,
short bits of news,
taken out of context,
leaving "Blacks" and "Blues".
Algorithms designed
to polarize the masses.
How can't you see it?
Did you forget your glasses?
Or are they just broke,
like so many homes,
with children so lost,
caught up in their phones?
Killing themselves,
photo shop influence.
comparing themselves,
blindly congruent.
And how quickly we forget.
9/11? Remember?
"We will Never forget."
Our heroes dismembered.
How could you argue
using rights and civil matters,
when they defend your rights,
now ALL are called batterers..?
Who are you U states?
Do you fight for what matters?
Or are you caught up in pain,
the product of disaster?
We've come a long way
from a long dark past.
Many have stood
to defend the flag.
Not for its colors,
but for all its people,
every ethnicity,
all United and equal.
Racism came back
caught up in dispassion,
communities suffered
who received less rations.
The weakest of our people
define who we are?
Hold on let me get advice
from the drunk at the bar.
Michael told us look
at “the man in the mirror”.
What self reflective thought
could be any clearer?
Do you ever say please,
hold the door or say thank you,
metaphorically speaking
for the generation who comes after?
Do you take the time
to talk to your kids?
To give them a hug,
to teach them to live?
To teach them to live
in a world of compassion,
to make responsible parents
the thing most in fashion.
I'll give you the simple
short version answer,
the focus of what's
at the core of what matters:
Remember the system
is made of up people,
people with families
who yes, need to eat too.
We are not robots.
This will not be perfect.
The human gets better
only if it keeps working.
Working on growing
and sticking together.
Ignited in heart,
the invisible tether.
Ask for what we need
not what we don’t want,
ask for free healthcare.
Use a big font!
Included in that health,
some care for what's mental,
you know what, while you're at it,
maybe throw in free dental.
Ask for an education,
an investment in you,
one that will take you
places you never knew.
Ask that we take
lost souls off of streets,
living in tarps,
treated like creeps.
And ask for forgiveness
from your home and planet,
Clean it up before,
we all turn into plastic.
Now watch the real movement
of coming together.
Watch the weight of Injustice
become light as a feather.
Watch those who suffer
find resources they need,
watch people stop buying
everything in their feed.
One last thought
with not to take time,
one last sentiment
and one last rhyme.
If you are so critical
regarding our leaders
you better start voting,
escape political theater.
